Glossary
Bridge signer
An operator participating in threshold authorization for cross-chain actions. A bridge signer is not necessarily every validator.
EVM chain ID
The numeric identifier EVM wallets use to separate networks and prevent cross-network transaction replay. See network access for ZEL identifiers.
Fallback
A recoverable outcome in which value reaches a safe destination form but the requested destination action, such as a swap, does not complete.
Ionic Swap
Zano's private peer-to-peer swap mechanism. It settles on Zano L1 and is distinct from a ZEL AMM or cross-chain swap.
Key epoch
The period and state associated with one threshold signer membership and key. Bridge authorizations must bind to the correct epoch.
Short name
A compact network identifier. ZEL values are listed in network access.
stZANO
A separate asset planned for ZEL consensus staking and ordinary governance. It does not represent or back ZANO and is distinct from Zano L1 Proof-of-Stake mining.
Threshold signing (TSS)
A signing process in which multiple participants jointly authorize an action without one participant holding the complete signing key.
Wrapped ZANO
The contract-compatible form used where an ERC-20 interface is required. It retains the ZANO ticker; EVM listings must also identify its chain ID and verified contract address.
Zano L1
The private Zano blockchain and its native transaction, Confidential Asset, alias, Ionic Swap, and private Proof-of-Stake features.
ZEL
Zano Execution Layer, the public EVM-compatible Layer 1 connected to Zano. It is currently available only on testnet.
